TEAC high fidelity equipments

Tokyo JP Japan

TEAC Corporation is a Japan-based electronics company founded in 1956 as the Tokyo Electro Acoustic Company.

It is known for its high-quality audio equipment in the 1980s, when TEAC produced a remarkable number of cassette players, CD players, turntables and amplifiers.

TEAC marketed an audio cassette with a transparent casing, with tape reels whose appearance was reminiscent of large open tape recorders. Many manufacturers at the time used TEAC cassettes to advertise their players, as the cassettes produced by the company looked more professional than standard cassettes, taking advantage of the indirect visual reference to open-reel tape recorders (of higher quality than cassette recorders).

The company continues to produce various audio equipment and maintains a respected high-end division called Esoteric.
