Aiwa high fidelity equipments

Tokyo JP Japan

Although the company was born as AIKO Denki Sangyo in 1951, it changed its name in 1959 to the well-known name Aiwa, with which it became a market leader in several product categories.
In 1969 it became a subsidiary of Sony, which became a majority shareholder, although it continued to operate largely independently.
The company would have a great international expansion, but some bets as the Beta video format or DAT tapes, jeopardized its sustainability.
The bankruptcy in 2002 caused it to be completely acquired by Sony, which, after trying to relaunch the brand by orienting it towards young people, ended up disappearing as such in 2004.
