JVC high fidelity equipments

Yokohama JP Japan

JVC was founded in Yokohama, Japan in 1927 as a Japanese subsidiary of the American Victor Talking Machine Company. Born as a phonograph manufacturing company, we offered a combination of hardware and software production possibilities, such as pressing the first disc in Japan. Subsequently, JVC became a leading brand of technological innovation in the audiovisual industry by claiming to be the inventor of a multitude of technologies such as: the VHS video standard, the world's smallest MiniDV camcorder, the first hard disk camcorder, the first wooden cone speakers, the home theatre video projector with the highest native contrast in history, and the world's smallest MiniDV camcorder.
Kenjiro Takayanagi, the "father of television" who was the first in the world to successfully project an image, the Japanese character "イ", onto a cathode ray tube in 1926, joined JVC after World War II. He has been involved in the marketing of colour televisions as well as in the development of the 2-head helical scanning system, which later became the basis of today's video decks. Until now, his legacy and his pioneering spirit have acted as a pillar on which the technological development of our company is based.

After producing Japan's first domestic "victorola" phonograph in 1930, JVC went on to produce Japan's first EP disc as well as Japan's first stereo disc player, continually striving to achieve realistic reproduction of sound sources and sound fields through hardware and software. Today, we are achieving a sound that resonates with the listener's heart through the DD speaker that produces a powerful sound field and can be placed anywhere due to its flexibility, as well as sound quality enhancement technologies such as K2 Digital Technology.
The world's first VHS format video, which JVC developed and launched in 1976, became, in fact, the global video standard, and spawned an entirely new cultural phenomenon based on visual communication. More recently, we have created D-VHS video, which maintains its compatibility with conventional VHS, while offering the possibility of storing large volumes of digital moving images at a relatively low cost. This equipment, as well as new compatible recorders that combine an HDD recorder with S-VHS on a single deck, are just a few examples of the new ideas we are developing for video entertainment.

Based on our technological expertise and product development capabilities that we have acquired over our 75-year history, we have expanded our global network with production, sales and service activities around the world, and have made JVC a brand synonymous with high-quality products. With the advent of the 21st century, the high-speed digital data communication capability has become a reality, and in this new era, JVC will continue to give top priority to customers' needs to provide them with high quality and useful products that bring more excitement and convenience to their lives.

JVC in its commitment to support global music and sport, continues to officially sponsor UEFA Championships, the JVC Jazz Festival and the JVC Tokyo Video Festival.
