Celestion is a veteran English speaker manufacturer that already produced speakers for phonographs.

Celestion is one of the most influential and recognizable brands in the hi-fi equipment space, best known for its high-quality speakers and transducers. Founded in 1924 in Surrey, England, Celestion began as a company dedicated to the manufacture of radios and accessories, but over time transformed itself into a pillar of the audio industry thanks to its advancements in speaker technology and distinctive sound. From its inception, Celestion was noted for its focus on innovation, using advanced materials and designs to achieve unprecedented sonic fidelity.

In its early years, Celestion was primarily involved in producing speakers for radios, with demand growing as radio became increasingly popular in British homes. However, it was in the 1960s that Celestion gained worldwide renown with its series of guitar speakers. These speakers offered a warm, resonant tone that soon became the signature sound of many rock musicians. Among these, the Celestion G12 stands out, one of the most iconic models and the favourite of legendary guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.

In addition to the guitar market, Celestion established itself in the field of hi-fi with its range of speakers for home audio equipment. One of the brand's landmark achievements was the Celestion Ditton, launched in the 1970s, a model that combined clarity and power, achieving a rich and detailed sound reproduction. The Ditton series was very popular in the vinyl era, offering an immersive and realistic listening experience that audiophiles deeply valued. Its success secured Celestion's place at the top of the hi-fi market and cemented its reputation as a premium quality speaker manufacturer.

Celestion continued its expansion in the following decades with the introduction of products such as the SL6, an innovative bookshelf speaker that used a copper dome tweeter, a material not common in speaker manufacturing at the time. The SL6 became an instant classic, known for its accuracy and ability to reproduce fine details in music, an innovation that raised the standards of the hi-fi industry. The copper tweeter improved high frequency response, allowing for a balanced and natural sound experience.

In the 1990s, Celestion launched the A series, which included speaker models such as the A1 and A3, renowned for their sleek design and high-power performance. These models were designed with discerning audiophiles in mind, and their internal architecture and premium materials translated into exceptional sound quality. The A-Series marked a milestone in bringing Celestion's high-fidelity sound to a wider audience, while maintaining its commitment to acoustic excellence.

Today, Celestion remains a leader in the loudspeaker and transducer industry, both in hi-fi applications and in musical instrument speakers and live sound systems. Its legacy is defined by innovation, quality craftsmanship, and a passion for authentic sound that endures to this day. From its guitar speakers to its hi-fi systems, Celestion continues to set the pace in the world of high-quality audio.
